Dan - I agree, that's the way it should be. They should get your vision before your shoot and trust you to make the raw images into something great - after they buy.

Number six, if you are spending 16 hours in photo editing for a portrait customer then you may want to consider doing commercial work. If your vision takes that much work for the layman to see then get a simpler vision or catch more of it with this device, lighting. Great portraits were and are made without hours of editing. Try that, because of where I work I show images at a work station, "raw". They buy anyway.

Gilberto - I write so much now, I usually don't have trouble. But one thing that has always helped me is to calendar out what I will be talking about. So you can set up months for different things - May is wedding month, June is high school senior month. Then you can break it down from there to a weekly basis. Monday's are "how to" days. Tuesday's are client days where you talk about a specific client and what you did for them. Wednesday's are resource days where you provide a great resource for your readers. Etc.

If you narrow down your topic for the day, you are more focused in on what to write about. You'll also have it in the back of your mind as you go through your week, and you'll find yourself saying "This is perfect for my how-to post".

It can definitely work both ways. I know consumers will try anything to get great quality at the lowest price possible. Don't bargain with your fees. If you stay true to what you charge, you will get quality clients that love what you do. The minute you cut, you're headed for trouble.

I was told by a prospective client that if I undercut another quote they had, they would guarantee me that job, plus any future ones. Unfortunately, I would have had to take a significant cut to do that, so I said no. I eventually found out through other sources, that the so-called "quote" was fictitious, as they tried the same stunt on a colleague & friend.

I almost never leave remarks, but i did some searching and wound up here 12 Ways To Use YouTube To Market Your Photography Business | Virtual Photography Studio - Resources for photographers.
And I actually do have a couple of questions for you if you tend not to mind.
Could it be only me or does it appear like
some of the comments appear like they are left by brain dead people?

:-P And, if you are writing at additional online sites,
I'd like to follow everything new you have to post. Would you make a list of all of all your community pages like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?

First of all I want to say terrific blog! I had a quick question in which I'd like to ask if you don't mind.

I was curious to know how you center yourself and
clear your thoughts prior to writing. I've had difficulty clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out. I truly do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints? Thanks!
