Photography Tools – 21 Firefox Add-ons For Photographers

Firefox is my favorite browser! With so many great features to use, how can it help photographers? We put together a list of our favorite Photography Firefox add-ons to help with your daily tasks.

Cooliris – Full-Screen, 3D — Cooliris is simply the fastest and most stunning way to browse photos and videos from the Web or your desktop. Effortlessly scroll a “3D Wall” of your content from Facebook, Google Images, YouTube, Flickr, and hundreds more.

ColorZilla – Advanced Eyedropper, ColorPicker, Page Zoomer and other colorful goodies.
With ColorZilla you can get a color reading from any point in your browser, quickly adjust this color and paste it into another program. You can Zoom the page you are viewing and measure distances between any two points on the page. The built-in palette browser allows choosing colors from pre-defined color sets and saving the most used colors in custom palettes. DOM spying features allow getting various information about DOM elements quickly and easily.

fox FoxSaver – Turns Idle FireFox into a ScreenSaver and Photo Viewer! Nice non-offensive pictures updated daily! Or your own pictures. FullScreen. Works great on Linux or dual monitors! Resouce Efficient! Support Media RSS. Recommend your own favorite pictures!

TinEye – TinEye is a reverse image search engine. The plugin adds a right-click menu item that allows you to search for an image to find out where it came from, how it is being used, if modified versions of the image exist, or to find higher resolution versions.

FireShot – FireShot is a Firefox extension that creates screenshots of web pages (entirely or just visible part).
Unlike other extensions, this plugin provides a set of editing and annotation tools, which let users quickly modify web captures and insert text annotations and graphical annotations. Such functionality will be especially useful for web designers, testers and content reviewers.

The captures can be:
– uploaded to FREE public screenshot hosting
– saved to disk (PNG, GIF, JPEG, BMP)
– printed
– copied to clipboard
– e-mailed
– sent to configurable external editor for further processing.

Fireuploader – This extension allows to upload/download files from your favorite websites using a simple interface. Below is the list of all websites supported by Fireuploader.

Flickr Sidebar – This Flickr sidebar is used for viewing and searching photo lists. You can access it by the command key Ctrl+Shift+F, the toolbar button, or clicking on the menu option View|Sidebars|Flickr Sidebar. Once you have authorized the extension to work…

Picture2Life – Turn your browser into a basic image editor via Picture2Life’s Web 2.0 application…

AutoSlideshow – Shows a slideshow of all images on a page.

With one single click AutoSlideshow generates an image slideshow within Firefox. The slideshow contains all images on the current page or images linked to from the current page.
This is mainly useful for pages with no possibility for image browsing, but you can uses it for viewing slideshows of images on your harddisk as well.
Beside the slideshow it is possible to browse the images one by one using back and forward buttons, view an overview page of all detected images and save all images on disk.

CoolPreviews – Browse faster — Preview links and images without leaving your current page or tab. Just mouseover any link, and a separate preview window immediately appears to show you the content. (TIP: The fastest way to view many links on a webpage, such as Google, is by mousing over subsequent links while the preview window is still open or locked.)

zoomFox – Adds a context menu item (‘View with zoomFox’) for viewing images using advanced controls: The image is opened in a new tab which also contains a thumbnail view of the image used to scroll around more easily, zoom controls with various zoom levels, easy scrolling by clicking and dragging the image itself etc. Ideal for viewing very large images easily.

Image Zoom – Easily zoom in, zoom out, fit image to screen or set custom zoom on individual images within a web page. All this can be done by using the context menu or a combination of mouse buttons and scroll wheel. Handy to see the finer details of smaller pics or to make very large pics fit within your screen
Page Zoom – Zoom all images on a web page with a single command or make all images on a page zoom with the browsers text zoom feature .

Save Images – Save Images saves the images from the current tab page, from the cache, to a specified location, with either the images original file name or a file name that you specify. The size, dimensions and types of images saved may be chosen, with options if the file size is unknown or if duplicate files are found. Images may be either saved from the current tab, left or right of the current tab or from all tabs. Also, all or selected links or image links in the current page can be opened in a new tab or multiple tabs. There are shortcut keys for some of the menu options.rnrnSave Images can be accessed from either the Firefox Tools menu, the context menu (right click in page) or from a button placed on a toolbar (recommended – requires placement by user). Clicking the button will save the images using the Option “Default Save Action”. Click the arrow next to the button to display a menu for more options.

Picnik – This extension adds a menu option when you right click on images to make it easy to pull the image into Picnik for editing.

MeasureIt – Draw out a ruler to get the pixel width and height of any elements on a webpage.

Nachofoto Dont Bookmark an image, Fotomark it!.
Think of Fotomark as a bookmark for images which gets organized into a visual format.
It can be accessed from any computer any time.

ResizR – Resize images using ResizR

Clipmarks – Instead of copying and pasting links, Clipmarks is like adding a pair of scissors to your browser, letting you capture exactly what you want others to see (text, images or video). Your clips are saved on clipmarks.com and can easily be syndicated to FriendFeed, Twitter, Facebook or other sites. You can also post anything you clip directly to your blog (supports WordPress, Blogger, Typepad and more) or send it directly to friends or co-workers via email. Clipmarks also gives you a way to help the environment by printing only the parts of a page that you need. By printing just what you need, you’ll save ink, paper and trees, thus making a contribution to a cleaner environment.
Your clip collection is accessible from any computer with an internet connection, including your iPhone, Blackberry, or other mobile device.

List All Images – List url, size and dimension properties for all images of a page in a new page/tab. It only works for old html images tags, no CSS equivalents.

Fotofox – Drag, drop and arrange pictures adding photo titles, and create albums by multi-selecting photos, and then upload to one of a selection of online photo services – all of this without interrupting your Internet browsing.
